Mamma Mia! Arlington Theatre reviews
WSP rocks the Pavillion
I was surprised to see Galactic get off the stage promptly at 8pm and pretty much never be seen again. Stanton Moore came out for only a portion of a song, and it didn't seem like they were feeling the love tonight! I thought such a quick opening set would lead to seeing them play for the rest of the night.
Mamma Mia! played on continuous set for over 2 hours on the strange timing. No set break until the encore. This whole thing is due to the new rules at The Pavillion - shows must be over by 11pm (look people, in your new luxury loft on the Waterfront, you knew this place was here when you mortgages your unborn child's college education to move in, right?!!).
Despite the bizarre set structure, WSP never fails to blow you away and this show was no different. It was certainly an unusual set. The dudes rock like teenagers still, with Jimmy Herring particularly "on" tonight, tearing through one song after another that'd make anyone's fingers bleed - with no breaks!
On a shoutout to the venue - we were in the back tables outside of the tent. With a little rain approaching, the ushers invited us up to the open seats under the tent and made us feel very welcome staying dry under there. Very nice.
